Quick Guide to the Keto Diet

The Keto diet is the hot new plan on the block. Keto was the most-searched diet on Google in 2018!

When you’re on keto – short for ketogenic – you should … eat low-carb and high-fat foods.
Eating this way puts your body into a metabolic state called ketosis. When you’re in ketosis your body becomes a fat-burning machine.

It also turns fat into ketones in the liver which can supply energy for the brain.

Some foods you should eat while on keto: Red meat, Salmon, Tuna, Omega-3 whole eggs, Butter, Unprocessed cheese, Nuts, and seeds.

The foods to avoid on keto are: Bread, Cake, Ice cream, Candy, Cereal, Pasta, Rice, and all fruit aside from berries.

There is the standard ketogenic diet (75% fat, 20% protein, and 5% carbs) and the high-protein ketogenic diet (60% fat, 35% protein, and 5% carbs)

The standard keto diet is usually for people who are looking to accelerate their weight loss.

The high-protein ketogenic diet is usually for people who need protein to help protect muscle mass ( such as bodybuilders and older people)
